Bandwidth:
Data capacity. The quantity of information a server or can pass or client can receive in a given amount of time. Usually expressed in kilobits or megabits or per second.

Bits, Kb, Mb, Gb:
These initials represent the shorthand that refers to the data rate of a device or connection. A "bit" is a binary value, 1 or 0. The tables below should help you decipher their meanings and relative bandwidth.

Digitized bits of information are commonly transmitted across fiber optic strands of glass, or copper wires, measured in "bits per second" as follows: (Note, a "bit" always uses the lowercase "b").
